TALKWORKS is working closely with community eating disorder teams as part of the First Episode Rapid Early Intervention for Eating Disorders (FREED) pathway, to improve access to psychological therapies for adults age 18-25, living in Devon (outside Plymouth) with bulimia or binge eating.

FREED aims to contact patients within 48 hours of receiving a referral, and then to carry out assessment appointment within 2 weeks and to commence treatment within 4 weeks. TALKWORKS has FREED champions within the service, offer monthly assessment appointments specifically for patients struggling with emotional eating who are eligible for the FREED pathway.

TALKWORKS is open to adults, age 18+, experiencing a common mental health difficulty. You do not need a referral from a GP to access the service, you can self-refer to TALKWORKS by completing the online self-referral form or by calling the team on 0300 555 3344. As TALKWORKS is an NHS talking therapies service, all treatment and support is available free of charge.
