World Wellbeing Week: 7 days of wellbeing

Posted by Victoria Walmesley on 21 June, 2024

World Wellbeing Week (24-30 June) celebrates the importance of looking after our mental and physical wellbeing, so that we can live a happier life. It offers us the chance to be thankful for the support we have from those around us, but also to explore new ways in which we can help ourselves.

At TALKWORKS we are bringing you 7 days of wellbeing, using each day of the week to share new ideas on what we can all do to improve our wellbeing.

Monday mindfulness

Practise mindfulness to learn how to calm your mind and be in the present moment. Not sure where to start? Why not give our ‘Introduction to Mindfulness’ workshop a try? It’s free and doesn’t require any prior knowledge or experience of mindfulness in order to join.

Check in Tuesday

Sometimes when people are struggling, they can suffer in silence. Talking about mental health can help to reduce the stigma around it. Use today as an opportunity to reach out to friend or family member, and give them space to talk. Here are some suggestions on how to check in with someone that you are worried about.

Workout Wednesday

Getting active is a great way to give your wellbeing a boost. It doesn’t have to be an intense gym session or long run; just a 20-minute walk outside will help to increase your energy levels and improve your mood. There are so many benefits of exercising, so why not take some time to get active today!

Thankful Thursday

Today is all about acknowledging and appreciating those around you. Did you know that gratitude can help us to reframe negative thoughts, which as a result can reduce low mood and anxiety? It’s so important to have people around us that we can turn to when we need them, and it’s equally as important to recognise that and give thanks. Make some time today to reflect on what you are thankful for and to give thanks to those who have supported you.

Feel Good Friday

Celebrate yourself and do something that you enjoy. This could be anything from listening to your favourite album, catching up with friends or simply settling down with a good book. Use today to make time for yourself.

Stay Connected Saturday

Never underestimate the power of connection. It can be as simple as meeting a friend for a coffee, or picking up the phone and speaking to a family member that you’ve not heard from in a while. Having quality time with the people that you love can help you feel happier and more supported.

Sleep Well Sunday

Did you know that a poor night’s sleep can have a negative impact on your mental health? Bad sleep can lead to us feeling tired, irritable and at times, low in mood. Prioritise getting an early night so that you can feel refreshed and ready for the week ahead. If you want to learn more about how the importance of sleep and what you can do to get a good night’s sleep, you might benefit from signing up to a TALKWORKS Sleep workshop.
